  • Bill Viola

Bill Viola was born in 1951. he graduated from Syracuse University. For over 35 years, he has created videotapes, architectural video installations, sound environments, electronic music performances, flat panel video pieces, and works for television broadcast. He is a pioneer in the medium of video art and his work focuses on birth, death and consciousness. He is inspiring for all upcoming video artists.

Viola’s work is interesting. I can’t say that I like it, but I do find it almost mesmerizing. I really like his use of water and darkness. The contrast really makes his pieces that much more enjoyable. His work is definitely different then any other work I’ve seen and I can see why it is inspiring to upcoming video artists.
